Lazy Evening

My evening started with good intentions. Really, it did.

I wanted to do some reading and look for jobs on CraigsList.org. Yeah, I need a job. I already have one, but it's just not paying the bills, so I need another. I'm hoping to find another job tutoring... but I really don't want to quit my current workplace. I love it there.

Anyway, no luck on the job search. I mean, I sent a couple of resumes out, but nothing really caught my eye. I figure in this economy, I better not be picky, right? How on earth am I going to get a good post-graduation job with the current state of affairs?

As for the reading? ... I did about 12 pages. of about 300. Go me.

.... Oh, I love my college. A woman just ran past the window of the lounge I'm in shrieking. It did not appear that she was wearing much in the way of clothing. Going to an all-women's college is definitely one of the most bizarre experiences of my life.

Okay, now I'm off to attempt to read a bit more. Wish me luck, O Great Internets!

Day One.

My name is Kyran, and I am currently a senior at Mills College in Oakland, CA.

As of today, I have 68 days left until I graduate.

What. The. Heck. Am. I. Supposed. To. Do. Next?

College is almost over. For some reason I never thought this day would come. I'm so used to the day-in-day-out grind of papers, reading, early classes, late classes, no time for food, no money for food, and all-night writing sessions that I have absolutely no idea what the next step is. Do I take time off? Go directly to Grad School? Try to find that dream job right out of the gate?

Who knows. In this society, it seems that we are so focused on immediate success that my post-college days will probably be decided for me just by the cost of continuing to live in the Bay Area after graduation. Which probably means working retail until I can afford grad school or find a decent job that actually has something to do with my majors. We'll see.
